Every year Canadians gather at many War Memorials to remember those lives sacrificed in order to preserve our freedom. One of these Memorials is located in Alliston Ontario. Their War Memorial is shown on the left side of the photo attached here. In a particularly unique manner the site is bracketed by a number of murals on a nearby building. Using rows of poppies as a base, the images show key parts of Canadian war scenes. Created by local artists Greg and Sue Hindle, Canada House, Vimy and other scenes, some from the Afghanistan war efforts are show here.
Alliston‘ s hero Sir Frederick Grant Banting is not forgotten either. His name along with too many others is engraved on the WW II granite stone. The north wall mural includes a subtle picture of his history. It shows part of the house in which he grew up with his mother and father Margaret and William Banting watching on as he headed off to the Great War.
